Hello fellow members,
I'm SJorgensen, I just became a member and have some questions. So upon my first browse through the forums I came across a post from a guy who was really upset that he hadn't gotten any test products even after being a 5 yr member and renewing for another 3 yrs. My question is, is this common that test products dont get sent out? Product testing is one of the reasons I joined.
Has anyone else had a bad experience like this? Also does anyone have suggestions about how I can find a job in this industry without having a 4 yr degree?

.
thanks fishslayer fer a great laugh....
by the way, welcome to the bb and i hope you search us out and find out what this club is really about and also to find the greater use of the forum with all the great people that is here.
now to answer yer ? about testing products.......yes the club sends out allot of stuff every year to be tested by the members of the club.
.........but remember that there is something like over 100,000 members. even if only half of the members fill out the forms to test something. then there is a very long waiting list
.........i been a member for over 20yrs. and i have test a half dozen things throu the club and most of that stuff was in the 1st. 5yrs. as a member. i have only tested 1 thing since and that was just 2yrs. ago.
.........i would like to say that there is several members that have had better luck in field testing products.
now with all that said, again i would like to welcome you to the bb and please look us over very carefully and find out what keeps us coming back.

welcome to the club and the forum fishslayer.
Like mr bill said, there is alot more to the club than the freebees. I am afraid that if you joined only for that reason then you will probably be disapointed. In my opinion there is so much to learn from all the other members and the magazine. I for one am proud to be a member. ow onto your questions.
yes there are folks who are unhappy with the amount of tests they receive. There are actually over 192,000 members( the # of members apears at the bottom of the forum along with who is logged in). with the limited amount of items to send out you can see how it may take a while to cycle through members untl its you turn and they have an item that matches your profile. Make sure you have submitted a testing profile. after you are done testing an item submit your test report. i made the mistake of not doing so on an item because i thought it was a premium and not a test( no indication of it being a test was sent, nowdays you should get an email anouncing that you have been selected that includes a report to fill out). If you do not fill out a test you may end up forfeiting your privelages for a while like I did. After you are done you need to resubmit a profile. If your fishing profile or interests change and you update your profile for any reason before being selected to test then your profile will be put to the back of the list again so be carefull doing this.
I have been a life member for 11 years and have received several items to test but during that time I did not always have an active test profile.
as far as getting into the industry, that a tricky one. any idea along what lines you would like to be involved? soem of the possibilities might be gaining employement in a tackle store or if you live close to the ocean or great lakes becoming an assistant on a charter boat. The again there are all kinds of ideas and it all depends on your interests.
