I was planning on going down to visit the Catskill Flyfishing Museum this morning when I got out of work. But finances dictated otherwise. So, it being a beautiful Fall morning, I grabbed a flyrod, a couple fly boxes, and my camera, and headed to the reservoir near my house.
There are some pretty big large mouth and pickerel swimming around in there, so I tied on a Clouser minnow. After a half dozen casts or so, I hooked into a big one! My minnow was swinging from the large birch tree behind me!
I wasn't getting the fly out very far anyway, so I tied on a foam cricket. I managed a few dink bass and a small crappie, but nothing of any worth. Since there are crappie in there I figured I could do well with a pink wooly bugger. I was right!
Over a dozen white crappie succumbed to my fly. They averaged 10-12 inches and put a nice bend in the 5/6wt I was using, a rod my father built in 1996.
'Twas a good morning!
Just made this photo my desktop

The largest of my take

Tomorrow looks like it could be a promising day on the water as well.
Hmmm...I'm thinking trout...
Thanks for looking.
