So I decided to head out for a while this am and fish for some pan fish. well I made it to the lake and was there for an hour or so and landed a dozen green sunfish, sadly enough very few worth sending in for the tourney. well, after a while I was joined by a few local guys that I have fished with before, I call them the Mcdonalds crew. There comprised of the Local "PRO" sportsmen, they've seen it all , shot it all and caught it all. Well, they have been telling me about this musky that was added into the lake they like to fish, course We never believe them and just let them babble on with there tails. Well Rodney was standing a ways down the bank from me and dick was even further down the bank, and all they talked about was this huge musky thats been crushing there pan fish and braking lines. well, rod asked us to watch his pole as he had to take a piss, well he came back and NO SOONER then made it to his rod I saw the slip float dip. then it dipped again, and stayed under, well rod reached for the rod and this sum beach took off like it was on FIRE ! Dick yelled grab your rod and I made some sort of grunt and by this time his rod was GONE! Rodney said Now do you belive us? I was dumb founded at what I had just saw, rod had lost a very nice ugly stick and all he was worried about was getting me to believe that this was a musky ! well I then watched as his slip float danced all around the lake, then finally dissapear under the water and to never come back up! It all happened so fast I was just dumb founded and for one of the few times in my life, I was speechless. |

I had a similar experience on the st. Lawrence river a few years ago. Not sure whether it was a big pike or a musky. What ever it was I lost $ 100 rod and reel. |

channels can get big enough to yank a rod like that. i've caught a couple of 10lb channels and they sure can be a hand full |
