I say the swim baits on a jig head because you can fish them vertical or horizontal . Hippo Tackle: Hollow Core 5

I was out today fishing for bluegills. I got bored after a while and started fishing for bass. I tied on a Rapala X Rap. Glass Ghost color. Fish on! That lure has produced time and time again for me. Give it a shot. The water temp was low to mid 50's.

Water is down about two feet in my little ten acre lake.  Being handicapped it makes it hard for me to get in a boat unless someone comes along and wants to wish.  On "VETERAN'S DAY" a friend and a veteran came over for some fishing.  The chart said there really was not any good fishing for the day which means I usually resort to everyone's favorite--early in the morning and late in the afternoon.  I put on one of Strike King's Gold Sexy Shad since the weather was so nice and sun very bright.  I decided to use the smaller version secretly hoping to catch a big crappie.  My friend  used a purple colored Zoom Worm and before long he had a nice 3 pounder.  I continued with the Gold Sexy Shad, got caught in some underwater trees we had put out for cover for the crappie.  All of a sudden I thought I had the bottom but instead it was a nice 12 pound 8 ounce largemouth full of fight. We took a couple of pictures with phone camera but they did not do fish justice.  Fish was 29 inches long with a girth measurement of 26 inches.  Fish had great shoulders and looked very healthy.  I will try to get a picture later but I am behind on my computer skills.  Caught one more nice 5 pound 4 ounce bass later in the morning which was very long but did not have much girth to it.  It was a great day to spend with a veteran I dearly love.  Good luck and good fishing!  If you can not take a kid, "Take a Veteran!  UNCLE TOM
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

John, probably the best legal answer is "few and far between".  I say that because I have never fished a pond or lake where ten pound bass were standard catches.  All of the bass that I have caught in this pond over the last ten years have been unusually healthy looking (big head and shoulders, nice girth and strong tail).  Seldom catch anything under two to three pounds-- average about two to three a year over ten pounds with the largest being sixteen pounds six ounces caught in prespawn last Spring.  I'm always looking for one bigger. The pond has extra nice bluegills and crappie.  Believe the main diet of bass is crawfish and golden shiners.  My favorite lure is Rapala's Max Rap and Strike King's Red Eye Shad in Gold Sexy Shad.  I still need to work on my picture taking.  I always encourage quick release.  Good luck and good fishing.  Uncle Tom
