Wayne, this morning I packed up a few more boxes of fishing stuff and loaded the Explorer with more crafty stuff that Karen had made for the Bazaar. We took the stuff to the church and then finished setting up tables, cleaning them off and covering them with a nice cloth table cloth(s). As Karen was setting up her items, I busied myself with a cup of hot coffee, a brownie and light conversation with the men folk...you know what I mean, real men's stuff! When we finished that we went back home for some lunch, loaded the Explorer again and then took that to the church...I am now at home, ready for a nap! I gots ta tell ya it is very tiring solving the worlds problems with da guys...Karen has had chili simmering all day and I look forward to a hot meal (she never feeds me) after one more load to the church! Every once in a while Karen and I will stop what we are doing and look around the home, trying to imagine what it will be like with other folks living here... |

Reflecting back on the years you've spent in your home, as you pack and come across things that remind you of the past, can be just as tough as the physical part of packing. I've moved three times since fist getting married and much of the stuff that should have gone to charity, or even the dump, but really never made it. I just didn't want to get rid of the memories. I'm sure you and Karen have done that several times as you've been packing. You come across something and then you just have to sit back a bit and think about it, especially when it involves the kids! |

Our children were grown when we built this home, but all eight grand children learned how to work the earth, plant a seed, nurish the seedling and harvest a crop. Many of them have taken these skills home, sharing them with their own families and yes, some have even developed a love of gardening. That makes my heart sing! And so, all these thoughts are going through our minds, making this move difficult... Today I must take one more load to the church and then Karen and I will help check in the outside vendors, making sure that they get set-up properly. Last night I was a "packing fool", just about finishing up the basement where my shop is. I will have that completed by the end of the day! I contacted my son Brian, and he will bring over a trailer so that he can take the dinning room table & chairs and two antique dressers; we won't have a need for them in the new house (notice I didn't say home yet). Most of our furniture, including the porch stuff, is for large gatherings of people. The new house is much smaller and so that will mean we will be spending more time visiting our children's homes...I will miss those large family get to gethers... |

Well, I didn't get finished with the packing in the basement. I got ropped into helping to make apple dumplings for the Bazaar...That took almost all day! I did manage to pack my camping gear tho... Thanks Doc and also to all those who have posted comments here. I am sure the new house will be what we want it to be, but it just takes a little getting used to... |

Frank, they was twistin' me arm...lol! Yesterday (Sat.) was very busy as you can imagine. My job was to help the treasurer keep the monies in order, make change and empty cash boxes. About mid morning I had to go back home to meet with the future owner and the guy I have to maintain my heating & cooling systems...All is well there! Back to the church to help tear down and assist in counting the money...Whew! When Karen and I got back home we just kinda fell out...exhausted to say the least! I did manage to pack-up a couple more boxes in the basement before heading to bed...Yes, I remembered to turn the clocks back! Today will be a day of rest! |

Today will be a day of rest! As well it should be Pete. Your'e not the spring chicken you use to be. I hope to take a hike up in the mountain to check my deer stand and then my son and his girl friend are coming over for sunday dinner. We probably watch a football game as well. |

Karen and I went shopping for about an hour this morning and then went to the church to finish tearing down from the bazaar. This afternoon I picked up 25# of fresh sausage for the pancake breakfast the church is putting on for the scouts on Saturday...It's the Scouting for Food day. The remainder of the day was spent packing & sorting...By 6:00 pm I was at a scout district meeting and two hours later I could be found in my recliner! LOL! Here's a good one for ya, someone came to the house inquiring about selling the house! I refered them to our realitor! Tomorrow we go to Lebanon to pick out the lighting in the new house...This ought to be good... |

Whew...what a day! I never got online yesterday as we were very busy with packing. Today I must type up the minutes from Monday nights church board meeting; that will be the last time for that...The rest of today will be more packing, calling the plumber and getting input concerning inline (no salt) water softners. I did manage to finish packing up the "Bushwacker" and now she is ready to take to my son-in-laws storage area. The basement is all packed, just need to get two base cabinets to my neighbor. I hear ya Dave! Karen is MUCH better at hiding her "stash" than she used to be, lol! Frank, you're soooo right, this ole boy needs a rest, lol! Wayne, come spring time I will be able to focus only on me fishin'! |
