I have found, while traveling to a distant fishing hole, sometimes my poles and lines get tangled.  Also, the eyes can get rather beat up or slightly bent.  I have found a method of even storing my poles and protecting the eyes when not in use.  Going to a local hardware store or plumbing supply house,  I purchased light weight thin wall PVC cold water pipe, which will just fit over the largest eye on the rod.  Depending on rod and eye size, PVC pipe will vary in diameter.  Measure from the reel to the tip end of rod and add approximately 2 inches.  Slip the rod and reel in to the pipe.  To keep the pipe in position, I drilled a 1/4 inch hole about 1/2 inch from both ends.  In one hole, I have tied a medium size rubber band by slipping through the hole and then through itself.  This can be attached to the reel while in transit or storage, to keep the pipe from slipping off.  The hole on the opposite end can be used to hang the assembly from a nail or cup hook to keep from tangling while in storage.  By storing vertically, a sway will not develop in the rod from laying across horizontal holders.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm gonna have to give that a try. Thanks for sharing that idea.

Neat idea for years I've had a fishing pole holder that can carry more than one rod h/e afterwards you gotta add the reel is the only problem though with My Daiwa it came in its own briefcase with a reel that was a gift in the '90s I believe for becoming a NAFC Life Member....currently having Roy a local Life Member add a sticker that measures the fish along a boat or in my case to the Daiwa rod.
