What is so important to respond to every posting or every thread topic? Do you get a Gold Star for reaching this peck or do you get  plaque from the club saying the ( Know it all Member of NAFC ) . I have notice that some of members lifers and yearly just post junk that only will hear him or her self. But once in a while they do post a or respond with good information. Now this is my own opinion and not the clubs, so if anyone feels insulated then it must hit a nerve.
I like to respond to posting that I believe that I have the answer or I can send the person to a direction. I admit that have got little upset over some things that is close to my heart or race.  What I'm saying is stick to the subject and don't just write and waste yours & my time in reading.
Thank you and I'm sorry if someone don't like my thread posting.

Het Dennis. I'm a member on 6 other sites besides this one and I can tell you, some people think they know everything, or they just like to see their posts. That's just the way some people are. Just shake your head, sigh, and move on.

I'm a moderator on a nice fishing site. www.outdoor-fishing.com. Stop by and say hello!

Sometimes I'm very mouthy. I just get into a fishing fish mood. Don't even offer a sense of any direction to support the thread and may even go off topic. But I mostly always circle back onto topic. Sometimes, I'm just curious, with what the answer maybe. Sometimes it's trying to figure out what is the right question that should be asked. Sometimes it's regurgitating the same answer several times throughout the week and sometimes, it's the same question that somebody else just asked, but somebody wants to ask the same question for themself.

Hi Dennis1022. I've been on this site a long long time (as well as others) and I agree with you 100%. But I've found it best to just shake my head and not get upset about it. I keep my blood pressure in check that way and get more enjoyment from the posts. There are certain people who I won't read their posts because they're in every topic and they have an answer for everything. I just reply to the ones where I think I can be of positive help, and make it short and to the point. Have a great day.

At the same time...there are some folks that have been / or still on here that have YEARS of experience...and even though I MAY disagree with what they say from time to time  I still gotta respect them for at least being willing to speak up.

MANY folks don't contribute at all

Also...when the Nov 2007 software change happened...we lost a LOT of posts about MANY topics. For just ONE example...IF you can find my "River Fishing" topic in Members Tips...that used to be around 150 posts by MANY good folks.

After the changeover...almost ALL was lost

    JMHO...and I hope that I haven't offended anyone here

Well I wasn't going to respond to this thread because I'm not looking for an arguement. But the more I think about it the more I decided to.
Responding to a post is just giving an opinion or experience that one can convey to others. I don't think you need to be an expert on the topic. I like to see what others have to say about differant subjects. I than can take that info and apply it to my situation. I don't claim to be and expert but I do claim to have learned alot about fishing and boating from many of the members here and would encourge all members to post their knowledge and experiences. This place used to be very active and there was a sense of family here. People helping People. My humble opinion.

    From an observational POV.

There's a point to criticizing the content posted and then there's criticizing the poster.  Lots of people with different experience and personalities.  There are those who are nothing but serious about their fishing and wouldn't even crack a smile if told them a hundred different jokes.  Then there are those who chuckles at just about everything.  It kind of goes along the lines of the typical bass fishermen vs the carp fishermen argument or those similar to it.  Much like the recreational fishermen vs the tournament fishermen and the methods of how fishing gets done.  Yet, some people want to do the criiticizing but can't take any themselves.  Everyone starts fishing at sometime and no one is born all experienced at fishing.

Everyone has some P's and Q's about something.  Some people can't stand a smiley .  They find nothing amusing about it.  Some people are all about proper english sentences.  If you compound or fragment your sentences, they only point that error out.  Some people type out all caps.  It only means they're excited or yelling about something.  It can be interpreted as being rude depending on what is said or how it was addressed.  There's a big wide rainbow of tolerance to correction from people.

Some people just have problems from the who knows where.  They read something and assume another.  They read something and interpret something completely unrelated.  They just have big chips on their shoulder and if they lean one way, it would just fall off.  Just seems like they make it through their life by belittling others.  I think it's referenced as internet bullying or trolling.  A lot of these misinterpretation comes from, quoting one sentence and taking it out of context from the whole.

There's a clique to just about every forums and this one is not immune to it.  Anyone who thinks differenently is often the subject of attack.  For whatever reasons or intentions, it's kind of being a majority of a mass singled mindset.  It's a sort being the right group while individuality or contrary thinking is the wrong thing. It makes it hard for individuals to feel less open to share, especially when it comes to new members.  There's always that intimidation factor.

Regardless, we've all clicked on that terms of use agreement about posting content...etc.,...However not everyone can patrol or control themselves.  Even I've stepped out of bounds at one point or another.

How does this all apply to me?
I just can't be the light hearted enthusiastic, blunt humorous kind of person without having a few people misinterpret things.  People still get upset over things I posted.  Still, I can't help anymore than anyone else can about themselvs.  Must be the wise guy in me that rubs people wrong.  While some things do change, other things just can't change.  No matter how many software changes/upgrades this site has gone through.

JMHOO - just my humble observational opinion

In another words slipperybob, I have to act like a duck and let the water roll off my back. No problem, mind my p's & q's and turn the cheek and just look the other way. I can do that with no hard feelings, sorry if this started another feud which I usually do.

That's one way of looking at it, but be more like the water. It takes the path of the least resistant. It has no form and will fill whatever container it is poured into. The other thing is that you can't turn tail everywhere you go. If you're gonna post something, there's always someone who's going to take it the wrong way. Even if 100 people disagrees, but one person may find it useful. You can't be apologizing for things you've never done wrong to just anyone because they demand it. You can't tip toe and treat just anyone better than the way they've been treating you. Maybe I cracked, but if there's going to be any fairness of treatment of all individuals, then one should certaintly be given the same fair treatment as well. Try as you may put water on fire, while the other person is pouring oil on it, the flames will never smother. I guess that sometimes if one is too polite, others will simply just walk all over you. Sometimes, you have to stand your ground and say, I'm a person too. Sometimes you have to tell someone that what they're doing is rude or wrong and they should stop it. Any person with a good conscience will see the wrong.

Like a somewhat recent discussion I had with someone about earthworms and nighcrawlers on a different forum. A whole bunch of people tells me there are no earthworms in North America and they're all invasive species. One particular person who was the authority on the subject was so absolute in their opinion. So I provided several references and information after serveral days of discussion, all on the internet about indigenous species and invasive species. Didn't see a single other person to back me up or accept the information porovided. It never fails to see all the name calling that goes on. In the end, though all those people just seemed to quietly stop posting on the subject. Sometimes you have to speak out just so the right information comes out. If I was like water, it's probably most of the time under high pressure. LOL's
