I recently moved to Phoenix from northern Wisconsin where I mainly hunted muskie but fished walleye and crappie when muskies weren't hitting. Looking for somewhere to fish relatively close by for now to fish walleye, crappie, and trout. I have no boat. From the internet I found Lower Salt River, Saguaro Lake, and Canyon Lake. Any suggestions? Anything coming on right now?

without a boat i would fish the lower salt, with canyon hard to get to places to catch fish, might even try some of the urban ponds around the valley

Welcome to the BB BCKTL (bucktail?), Try the AZGFD website, they list just about all of the fishable waters in the state-local tackle stores can be good sources. Another source is azbasszone.com. This is a local fishing site. Good luck, Allen

Other than the urban programs your options here are very limited without a boat. You simply can't reach the best fish habitat without one. That said, I would recommend co-fishing with someone else who has a boat or looking for an inexpensive aluminum boat. Welcome to the area. The AZ game and fish site will help you find the waters that contain the species you wish to target. Happy fishing.

Absolutely!!! There is a chain of 3 lakes just north east of Mesa,. Saguaro, Canyon, and Apache are all in a string. Further upstream is Roosevelt Lake, a very large lake. All these lakes contain Largemouth, smallmouth, and yellow bass, walleye, crappie, channel cat, and flathead cat. Deffinately bring your fishing gear! And happy fishing!
