Hello to all the Michigan ice fishermen on the board. Are there any
Michigan members here who fish Lake St. Clair in the winter? I live in
Roseville, Mi. and I regularly fish Lake St. Clair all year round, but I
really like to ice fish on the lake. I was thinking along the lines of
maybe getting a group of club members together and hit the ice one
weekend this winter. Would any one be willing. Chuck

Hey! I'm new to the forums and new to fishing in Michigan, but I'd be interested in an ice fishing trip on St Clair. I'm over in Dearborn and have been looking to hook up with some of the locals. I'm from down in Kentucky with most of my experience coming from wading creeks/and small rivers fishing for smallies and anything else that would bite. A typical day would see us catching smallmouth, largemouth, KY bass, rockbass, sunfish, sauger, drum, catfish and gar. You hit the right spot and you could catch each of those species in the same hole! Anyway, I've been up here for 10 years, but keep taking trips to Canada (Spanish River, Kawarthas, and Chapleau area) instead of fishing locally. I've not found anything good to wade or shore fish yet, but I did have fun on the Detroit River one day in a coworker's boat when the white bass were running and we were supposed to be catching walleye. I'm planning on getting my own boat next year and so will be hitting St Clair hard when that happens. In the meantime, I'd love to give ice fishing a try this winter. I'll even say "yall" for yall a lot! :-) Michael |

Hey Michael, welcome to the board. I'm only 23, but have a bit of experience fishing LSC and a lot of local spots. There's a lot of small creeks and rivers around Stoney Creek that offer a lot of wade fishing for Pike, Largies, and Smallies, even Carp if you're into that. That area has a lot of hidden ponds to offer as well, you've just gotta go out and find em, or know someone to take you to em. I'm a shore fisherman myself, so every spot that I fish is accessible to anyone with a vehicle. Some of the spots you might need 4WD on a rainy day, but that's why I love my jeep |

Mike! I like what you have to say and would like to subscribe to your newsletter! Seriously though, that sounds great. If you're volunteering yourself as the "someone" I will readily accept. I too have a Jeep I am ready to go! No, really I am - I've got my stuff in the back from a trip up to Kent Lake on Sunday. (ended up not getting to fish - spent quality time with my g/f and her parents) I am now going to have to look up Stoney Creek either way! Michael |

welcome, Mike and Chuck. Lake St Clair is an awesome fishery and ther are some nice shore- or pier-fishing options the New Baltimore park redid their pier, Brandenburg is a good one and you might get lucky at Johnny Lega's on the north channel |

Absolutely Michael. We'll get together sometime during spring. Pill - 9 Mile Pier and Selfridge offer good fishing too, they just tend to get a bit over crowded. |

Sounds good to me. I can't wait for the ice to get here. I've been working on my ice gear to get it ready for this season.

Haha, Pill, take it easy on the Buckeye. It's not his fault he had to move to that red and white state. |

well it is HARD ta say about not getting wet........i got real wet when i went thru last winter when i was checking out a place ta go this yr. it was at last ice and walk to close to some rooks...........man that was cold. now the recipe for artificial ice is......take some molten plastic......form it into a cube.........fill the center with that stuff that is in ice packs and then freeze........so there...........BBBBbbbbllllllllllaaaaaaaaazzzzzzzz........heheheheheheeeee |

Hey Pill, what year/make/type of boat do you have? Me and MCosson might have a little bidding war on our hands. |
