Looking for a place to get a week of fishing vacation for myself and a few friends. I was flying into Atlanta Ga.from Ohio this pass week. Saw this lake from the air. Looked it up on Goggle. Can anyone tell me anything about this lake. Like how is the fishing. Bass, walleye, trout or any kind of fishing? Is there any pike there? Depth of the lake? Best time of the year to fish it? Any kind of info?
Thanks Dave

The U.S. record Smallmouth Bass was caught there.

I'm going there myself this spring. I've only fished it once before, but I did pretty well considering it wasn't strictly a fishing vacation. From all the research I've done it is a tremendous fishery. There are decent numbers of largemouth ( I caught a couple nice ones) but it is known primarily as a smallmouth lake. It is extremely deep and the water is very clear, so that lends itself to being more of a smallmouth kind of place. Also good habitat for walleyes which apparently are there in abundance and of good size. No pike, but ok for muskie fishing. (I guess particularly in the winter and very early spring for the muskies). Also white bass, crappie, and bluegill.
I was there for a houseboat bachelor party, so I didn't get to do as much serious fishing as I'd've liked. We killed the bluegill though. Pretty nice sized with a couple of giants thrown in there. I mean BIG. I also caught a couple largemouths and a few crappie. That was in the month of May. I'm planning to go in March this year. Techniques vary with the time of year and species of course. When do you plan to go?
Also, check the regs. There is some Kentucky water, some reciprocal water, and mostly Tennessee water. Also a slot on smallmouth. 16-21 inches I think. 15in min on largemouth. No min length on spotted (oh, yeah forgot there are spots there), 50inches for muskie.
Hope that helps. If you want anymore specific info, then let me know and I'll try to help.
