Ok Trev, I hear what you are saying, but before this latest change you could see who was on the site which tells me that if there are more than FOUR folks on at the same time you will have a major slow down problem (by your words)! So that's not working for me...Unless you are saying that the servers needs upgrading? Looking for clairity here...

Hi all.Make sure ALL of your firewalls,AV,crapware blockers and ect are up to date. Also, run them on a regular basis.Maybe that will help.As far as loging on and ect goes,I have,so far, not had any problems. And yeah, they COULD have chosen a MUCH better color scheme for the forums.

Hi all.Like I said ,so far so good.I have been a life member since appx 1996,but have not been active in the forums.
Fish as much as possible, but not enough to satisfy me.But,who does?Hehehe.I try to stay off of sites like FaceBook,Twitter
and ect.Too much privacy invasion by the sites, and WAY too much crapware to pick up.

This morning the site is moving the quickest it has (for me) since the latest upgrade. However, each morning I visit the site my preference is to click on "Active Topics" or "Not Read" so I don't have to filter through the Main Page in search of recent posts since my last visit. Neither of these two options has worked for me yet!!!! They both time out for some reason. CAN WE HAVE A RESOLVE TO THIS???????

I have had a similar problem, but only on the "Active Topics".  I'm sure it depends on the ISP you use and time of day, etc.  However, you made me think of something that is a tad annoying to me.  You can't go from the home page to "Active Topics" or "Not Read" or "My Topics" with out going to the "Forums" page.  Why not add a 'slider' from "Forums" to those sub-pages, in addition to the "Private Messages" which is currently the only option selectable with out going to the generic "Forums" page.

I've been able to log on...but navigating between the main Forum page and various Topics is time consuming.

Is anyone having trouble with PM's? I got an email that said I had a PM...but when I signed in...it wasn't there

The only problem I've had is sometimes when I hit the submit button it takes a minute or so to post it.

I get an error when I try to access "Active Topics" and "Unanswered Topics".

Error A critical error has occurred.
Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.

Pete the server may be running all of the clubs .I am not sure that they have a individual server  just for us.  I would hope so but it is probably unlikely.

Well folks, here is the most likely answer to to slowness of this site. I have cut and pasted an excerpt from this URL:    http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites...ngclub.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites...ngclub.com  about how many domains are at the same IP.

Fishingclub - dedicated hosting?
There are 11 domains / websites on the IP 204.236.231.128 which is used by fishingclub.com - fishingclub
Fishingclub.com looks like a shared hosting to us.
  1. http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites...ngclub.com" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites...ngclub.com">fishingclub.com
  2. http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites...ssclub.com">healthandwellnessclub.com
  3. nahc.tv
  4. www.cookingclub.com
  5. www.creativehomeartsclub.com
  6. www.fishingclub.com
  7. www.gardeningclub.com
  8. www.handymanclub.com
  9. www.huntingclub.com
  10. www.masterswalleyecircuit.com
  11. www.thehistorychannelclub.com

Seems to me the simple answer is that the club is trying to do too many things in not enough bandwidth.

Tight lines,

Thanks for that post...info...and website Dan

Actually...it's not uncommon for several websites to be on one server. For example, the server that Rapala is on has 10 other websites on it...

http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites/www.rapala.com

And here's a surprise...even though Bass Pro Shops and Cabelas have dedicated servers...they are both hosted in Europe

http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites/www.basspro.com

http://www.dedicatedornot.com/sites/www.cabelas.com

That said...I think all the pieces have been figured out to this mystery

Since there's so many "clubs" on that server...all with forums...videos to watch...and flash advertisements...

Coupled with tracking for data collection...to include Microsoft and our ISP's

And we end up with slooooow page loads on here

As a side note...my local ISP tech rep told me months ago (when I was having major problems) that many ISP's are having bandwidth issues...simply from just all the flash ads and videos being sent around the 'Net

And I'm still having problems with a slow computer even when not on the 'Net...even after scans with 6 different malware / virus programs

well that should tell folks allot, in order to get anything done .
the owner has to approve it .

SO when you contact the club you are only contacting a branch of a organisation and not the true owner.
