I don't have a buddy heater yet. It's on my wishlist though. I'm using an older Coleman Blackcat heater in the shanty. Well I've been trying to come up with an idea to be able to use it to heat water or a sandwich on. Well I finally made up something to do just that using an old bbq grate and some brackets I had. Here's my shanty cooker mod.

Looks like it would work great to me. That's why I keep "usable materials" around my workshop. What she (my wife) thinks is junk is actually material for good old American ingenuity.

I have a grill grate that I have set up next to the heater as well. Doesn't actually cook food but great for warming things up.

I figure this will work good for boiling water for coffee or hot chocolate, warming a sandwich or a can of soup. I think it would cook up hot dogs quite well too. I guess I'll find out soon enough.
I'm hearing that there's ice forming in the canals around Lake St. Clair. Pretty soon it'll be on the lake itself.
