From the 2nd week in January until the first week in March, I'm taking the RV from the coast of Virginia down to the east coast of Florida, across Alligator Alley to the Gulf Coast of Florida and then around to Galveston TX. I want to take the time to enjoy all the surf fishing I can along the way. I am clueless as far as what would be running, in season, where, when, at this time of year. Along the way. Any suggestions, advice, general information, would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks

Sounds like a great trip.  If you are coming down the coast of Georgia there is some great Striper fishing in the mouths of rivers as they move out of Atlantic to spawn in the rivers.  Usually run from ten to fifty pounds.  I suggest some of the rivers that have been damned--you find great fishing in the tail races below the dams.  There is also some great Largemouth Bass fishing in those coastal rivers and lakes, especially South Georgia and Florida.  Most people float fish with large golden shiners for bass as they prepare to spawn.  Also, good red fishing in all that coastal area all the way to Texas--don't miss Louisanna.  My buddies tell me despite the oil spill there is still good red fishing (gold spoons, plastic grubs, live shrimp and crabs).  I like using the popping cork technique.  Check out the creel limits for length and number of fish.  Have a great trip!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.
