where are you heading out to? Sounds like after next week there will be no doubts about ice thickness with the 20-30 below lows we are expected to see.

I'm hopping I don't get too much snow dump on us in MN. Really it wouldn't stop me from going out to try to ice some fish.

I wouldn't say our ice is safe yet here in NY. But the temps dipped to - 24 night before last. 27 above right now and is suppose to hit 40 tomorrow. It wouldn't be long if the temp stay cold. It hasn't gone to 32 in over a week.

I hit a 100 acre lake this past Saturday in Southern Wisconsin (Walworth County) that had 6" of ice. Only had an hour and a half to fish, but managed to ice my first few perch of the year. Today I took a vacation day to get my X-mas shopping done. Was pleasantly surprised that I was home and the truck was unloaded by 2:00, so I hit the same lake again. With the cold that we've had since last weekend, the lake put on another 4" of ice. The perch weren't biting so hot, but did catch a few keeper gills. Looks like this weekend the ATV will be out so I can do some real fishing instead of walking 150 yards from the shore line. Seen a guy pull up a 37" northern on a tip up while I was out there - that was pretty cool. Tight lines to all and Merry Christmas.
Even if you've been fishing for three hours and haven't gotten anything except poison ivy and sunburn, you're still better off than the worm. - Author Unknown. Matt in Whitewater, WI.

Ice fishing is in full swing here in Northern Ontario. Shacks are out and people are driving their trucks on. GOOD TO GO!!!
