The site got substantially slower when the "changes" occured.  This seems to have caused less members to visit the forums.  The activity in the forums are way down from usual.  Will the speed ever increase (possibly back to the way it was)?

I can't speak for everyone but the slowness sure has cut down on my participation. This latest upgrade (?) is only one of many changes each of which seem to have slowed down an already slow site! I can't imagine the frustration of those members accessing this site with a dial up access. Even with a DSL connection I frequently time out and /or lock up. Davesett2000 has some interesting things to say about this in a few of his recent posts. Tom

I been visiting this forum sine 2007 and it keeps getting slower. It is really slow now and I hate to visit the forum. I find myself questioning if I want to renew my membership this year. I just retired from my position as the head of an IT department and I understand the world of computers and information technology. The new laptop that I am currently using is the fastest machine that I have used ever; I purchased it just prior to retiring and wanted the fastest & best aviailable... it is in the top 10 for sure. My Internet connectivity is high speed cable. So why do I not visit the NAFC forum often? Because their servers and connectivity stinks!

I honestly believe that it is a connection problem as it seems to come and go. There just aren't enough members online at any given time to overload even the most basic of servers. I don't claim to be an IT wizzard but certain things are pretty obvious to me- the site is usually slow and often reaches a glacial pace. I should not be getting a '500' error code on login period! Oh believe me it can be hardware and software related. If you don't have the processor and memory to handle the information, you can have all the connectivity in the world and have terrible results. There is a bottleneck somewhere and if I was part of the IT management at NAFC, I would not be proud of my network.

Hi all, The errors are all caused by the same thing, which is essentially the Amazon servers we are on not playing nice with the content server that serves up most images, skins, etc.... So the fix is to move to new servers with better support from the server farm. This is happening this coming week (week of 2/14), IT has been doing stress tests on a duplicate environment of the site this last week, and all has checked out well. When they confirm the night they will be moving, we will let you know here.... It shouldn't be down for more than a half hour they tell me, but if I get additional info, I will let you know that as well. --Thanks! Chad

I thought the club moved to new servers months ago and that was the excuse given for the site being slow then(give us some time to iron out the bugs). I have given up and figure I will have to live with it as this has been an ongoing problem for about a year at least, if it hasn't been fixed by now (2 "upgrades") later I doubt it ever will be. Tom     Any bets it gets worse this week?

Thank you for turning off the server for 2 hours yesterday. It now has great speed and I have not had one bit of a problem sence. Again THANK YOU.

It does seem a bit faster now that you mention it! To say that I am not computer savvy is the understatement of the year, but I know when a website isn't functioning properly. And this one (even though the speed problem has apparently been rectified) still has a myriad of little glitches and bugs that need to be worked out. Have they tried sprinkling fairy dust and rubbing rabbit's feet?

Time will tell if the 500 errors are gone. I can't say for sure if the site is faster but at least this "repair" didn't break anything! Sorry to sound so negative but it is learned behavior. Tom

Here is one that I have noticed: There is an option in the settings for each person's individual profile that allows the notification prompt to appear when someone else comments on your page or on one of your photos. It can be toggled on or off. Mine is switched on, but it does not work. People comment on my page and my photos and I have no idea that this has transpired unless I literally go and check myself by browsing through my photo albums or checking my main profile page for their posts. It simply does not notify the user in that regard. The only time the notification (alert) option seems to respond is when you have received a friend request. Is anyone experiencing this problem? Another "bug" that I have noticed is that occasionally on the forums a post will appear twice. Even though the "submit" button was pressed only once. I know this for a fact because it happened to me. And Web Guy Greg, I noticed it happened on one of your posts too. I don't know why this is happening but it is definitely not supposed to!

For some reason, when I try to access "Active Topics", I get a strange error message.  Why is this happening?

The double posts thing was a problem even before the "great new changes" occured.  I, personally, don't have a real big problem with it.  The error messages are the real issue!

So much for the fix! The site seems as slow as ever to me and I found myself looking at the dreaded 504 gateway error again today at around noon CST. Tom
