Hello all;
One of my fishing buddies called the other day, and asked if I would like to go fishing with him. Duh, what kind of question is that!

So we met at the boat ramp, and started out. It was fairly cool and cloudy with some wind, but what the hay? We scooted out to some marsh areas along the Sabine River, and as we were pulling up to where we wanted to fish, we went past another couple of guys out fishing. As we glided past, they each pulled in a nice red, at the same time! Cool!

It looked like it was going to be a good day.
We got to our spot, dropped anchor and started to fish. And fish. And fish. Nothing. Not even a nibble. Not even as much as a crab taking our offering. Nada.

So we pulled up the anchor and moved to another spot where we have caught reds before. Again, nothing. I was using dead shrimp, and my bud was using an artificial minnow with a piece of shrimp as an appetizer. Still nothing.
We went to another spot, and this time we had a bit of action. My friend caught 4 nice sized crabs, and one rat-red...a red drum that is undersized. In Texas they have to be at least 20 inches long, and this one was only 19! What a bummer. I had a couple of hits, but nothing to show for it.

The wind started to pick up, and our anchor couldn't hold the boat, so we called it a day. Wish we could have caught more fish, but that is the way it goes sometimes. All in all, we had a great day fishing!

At least that is my story...and I am sticking to it!
