Looking to pick up a collapsible/inflatable boat and electric motor. Any one have and info on these pertaining to performance, ease of set up and duration of battery life? We currently have a Bass Tracker 17' with a 50hp Merc but there are areas that we'd like to fish where the Bass Tracker isn't practical.

    Thanks

    Carl

There have been a couple of discussions about this previously but it might require a lot of patience to find them in the 'Boats and equipment' section unless the search feature has started working. A couple of members have collapsible or folding boats and seem pleased with them. They set up faster than an inflateable and can be used where inflatables are not allowed. Torqueedo sells a line of electric outboards. These differ from trolling motors in that more speed is available. The biggest problem is battery weight and run time. If you aren't going too far and are not in a hurry one of the newer digital trolling motors like the MotorGuide Varimax series go a lot further on the same amount of battery than older trolling motors but are still speed limited. I own a Varimax 55 and have yet to exhaust a group 27 deep cycle in a days fishing. PM me if you would like and I can try and run down some of the earlier discussions. Tom
