Rapala has certain lures they know are the best they sell. The original floater, shad rap and husky jerk have saved the company. The risto rap, minnow rap and any of the prop type topwaters are all bad. Ran across an old Snag Less Craw, never caught a thing except a tree.

So, Im not the only one who noticed?!

There are lots of Rapalas lures that are on my never to buy again list. I can't buy a lure just for collection sakes. It's gotta perform well and catch fish.

If Rapala wants to stay in business, they need to step up their game. There are a lot of lure companies that are making some incredible, innovative lures these days. They better quit putting out the same old stuff and try something different. The X-Rap is a great example of a newer lure they got right!

I bought some lures in Montana, last time I was able to go (long time ago), they were a wolley worm type fly with a kidney spinner on the shaft above the fly. I bought three colors, I never caught a fish with them, not there or anywhere else.

The most useless lures I have used have to include the banjo kit my wife bought me one year for my birthday. Daredevils, little cleos, sweedish pimples all have been underproducers. Also has anyone else noticed that the new hot-n-tots have plastic blades. They are junk and do not produce anywhere near as well as the originals. As far as rapala's the original floater is one of the most productive lures in my box but I have several other types and they have been banished to my basement catchall box where I keep stuff just in case it may be the hot lure some summer.

I bought a package of the "walking worm" as an impulse buy once. They don't move in the water like they did in the TV commercial(what a shocker). I haven't caught a thing on them but I haven't even used them enough to give it a good chance. After trying one out a few casts and not getting any action out of it, I haven't tried again since.

Have you guys heard of Sebile lures? They are so expensive! I see them at the sporting goods stores and the colors, finishes and designs of the lures do not look impressive in my opinion. Who has fished with them and am I wrong about them?

I don't quite understand how the lure is "too heavy".  If you're using heavy enough line and the right rod, the Clanking Rap works pretty darn good.  I've caught several good fish off of it.  It's almost as good as a Rattle Trap.

I've had the ability to use a Sebile lure once, Capt Quantum, and it looks amazing in the water. I used a larger one for stripers inshore on a trip for only a couple of casts just to try it out, but nobody on the boat could tell the difference between it and the baitfish in the water. If you've got the money, I would recommend buying one or 2, they feel like real fish magnets.

Well, I appreciate your input skewl. I just looked at the price tag and also it just seemed like the design and colors weren't very impressive. But maybe the action on these lures is good? Maybe great? I still have a lot of other brands I would trust first. Like I said, the prices are ridiculous!

And I would have to agree with you fisherfanatic. How can a lure be too heavy? Unless it weighs a pound?! I prefer lures that have some weight. You can cast them a mile!

My favorite all-around lure has to be a Rapala Shad Rap. You can catch almost any freshwater species with them. Least favorite...not sure. Almost everything in my tackle box has caught fish at one time or another.

To Capt. Quantum... I just bought some Sebille Vibrato Spoons. Have to let you know how the Canadian lake trout like them this summer.

My favorite lure would have to be a spinnerbait. It's the only artificial bait I have used and caught fish. Just Bass and Crappie. I've had good luck with Gulp Alive nightcrawlers also.

My least favorite lure so far is the Jig N Pig or worm tail. I have yet to get a hit on one. Maybe I just need more experience with them. I also have a assortment of crankbaits by Rapala, Storm, and Rebel. My friend swears by the Rebel crawfish but I have not had any luck.

Your friends are right. The Rebel Crawfish is a very deadly weapon against the bass. I have caught bass of all sizes with it.

I tried the Flying lure at one time. It falls right in there with the Banjo Minnow.
