I use texas rigs with limited success, but not on a Carolina. Please give me some pointers on using it. Ive heard it has more action. Is this true?
No matter what you say or do, it won't stop me from going fishing!

A Carolina rig produces more sound than a Texas rig because of the bead hitting the weight, so I guess in a way it has more action to it than a Texas rig, but the plastic itself behaves more or less the same. The sound of bead on weight makes the rig more able to attract fish from further away, so it would be a good choice in stained or murky water. Another advantage of a Carolina rig is that you can fish it faster and cover more water with it than you could with a standard Texas rig.

I tie mine thusly; worm hook , anywhere from 12" to 36" of 12 pound test mono, swivel,  red plastic bead, green glass bead, red glass bead, brass weight, @ 6" of 12 pound test mono,  and another swivel to attach to line from reel. The brass weight and 2 glass beads really make a racket! The red plastic bead right ahead of the first swivel protects the knot from damage by the glass beads and weight.

Sure. Cast it out. Let it sink. Make a slow sweep of the rod to the side. Return rod to original direction, reel up slack and wait. Wait some more. Make another sweep.Wait some more. Repeat these steps back to the boat. You can't fish this rig too slowly! This technique is for those with a lot of patience. I love Carolina rig fishing. Caught my PB largemouth almost 2 years ago with it.

Another way to give your Carolina rigged soft plastic lure a different look is to use a syringe and inject air into it in a few spots.  This will cause it to rise during the pauses instead of sinking during the pauses. Have fun and happy fishing!

bass or bass is right, brass on glass is a must! Lead on plastic just don't klink as good. One more little tip, try using one of those walleye foam floats ahead of the worm. That really keeps it up off the bottom.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Great tips everybody! Like Memphisfish, I have plenty experience with Texas riggin, but never have I ventured to the Carolina rig. Think i might give er a try next time out. ;-) I really like the idea of "glass on brass", thats gotta tick like a time bomb...and adding a 'eye float keepin that worm up sounds like a killer combination!

A Carolina rig is Designed to float above something like weeds .That is why you adjust the length of the leader . simply drag it slowly ,when it comes in contact with something drop the rod tip back a bit and then jiggle it in place then pause for a bit and then hop it over the obstacle the sinker will follow the counter of the bottom structure thus giving it action with out you doing much. works good for drifting or slow trolling.
If you ever fished a Lindy rig for walleye it is basically the same thing  only with different components.
Fish it Mainly where getting hung up is not a issue, if your going to fish deep in the weeds go Texas.

Take a kid fishing , If the fish aint biting entertain them. Photobucket
