    Good morning everyone,

I've been checking out some soft plastic swimbaits for some time now and have settled on the non pre rigged version.  Question on hook size for 3.5 and 4.5 inch swimbaits, what size hook would be used for these?  I recall reading somewhere that 3/0 or 4/0 was the size to go with.

    Thanks
    Thomas McGinnis

I know that on the package it usually suggests a hook size, at least for YUM products. It says on the YUM website that a 6/0 hook is best for a 5 inch swimbait, so I would assume that you are correct in that a 3/0 would be good for a 3.5 inch bait and a 4/0 would work well with a 4.5 inch bait.

I generally will ask the people at the tackle shop what hooks they recommend for them when I buy and then use that as a starting point.  Sometimes I like other style but they will at least get you in the correct size or give you a few recommendations for how you are fishing them (also you can get some good pointers on how to fish in different circumstances).

I use a 3/0 on my 3.5 inch Yum Money Minnows. Caught my biggest bass on it!
No matter what you say or do, it won't stop me from going fishing!
