Hi all I have a bunch of gps cooridinates and wanting to know how to get them put into my new Elite 5 unit.
Can I put them in manually?? or what would be the best way to do this??

If your Elite works anything like my older LMS you can put the cursor at your co-ordinates and save from there. I think there is a way to save or enter directly from the raw numbers but I can't remember offhand. I'm sure if you look hard enough it is explained in the manual. Tom

I dug out my LMS manual and after some digging I found the procedure. The instructions on manual waypoint entry are in the advanced GPS section and it takes a bit of digging to find but it is there and not very complicated. I don't suppose you are lucky enough to have the waypoints on an MMC or SD card are you? If so you can just transfer them to memory. (Your Elite does have a card slot?) The manual procedure involves going to waypoints, then scrolling to subcategories which should give you the field to enter a waypoint. As I said, this is for my LMS, but Lowrance really hasn't changed basic operation in years and all of my Lowrance units work in basically the same way and some even can share software. PM me if you are still having problems. Tom

Tom thanks for the reply...I do not have them on a card. How can I load them to a card on my computer then transfer them to my elite??? Not to good with this computer stuff but wife is better.
As soon as all this snow melts I will get the elite installed and start tryin to get this done.

Can anyone who has the Lowrance Elite 5 DSI give a review, pro's, con's etc...I'd like to hear from members to see what they like/dislike about the unit. I wanted to get the Lowrance HDS 7 but it's not in the cards for this year, so I'm probably going to settle on the Elite 5 DSI Gold. I've done my research and it seems like a really good buy. How well does it work in saltwater if anyone can advise on that too. Thanks, Vito

Criviere: Just wondering if you got my PM and if you had tried loading your waypoints yet. Tom
