where ya from and what would you like to talk about? when I pull up the boards, I always search for familiar names and see what they have to say. It's getting a little harder now, but I'll chip in when I can. right now I'm headed to the launch site to see how many people are out on the ice |

Good morning guys, Farmer Red, you're right - the "new" site is almost as painful as dialup internet service! Pillman, I'm from Tipton - near MIS in the Irish Hills. Where are you guys from? Yesterday I made a trip up to Mason to a fishing show sponsored by the Michigan Steelheaders. It was their first show there and it was pretty small, but there were quite a few people attending the show and the vendors were great! I'm sure this will become an annual show, just like the one they sponsor in Monroe each February (The MichOhio Sportfishing show). I have recently started a tackle manufacturing business and I was invited to participate in the Mason show, but since it was their first year I wanted to check it out before I invested in booth space. My tackle is primarily walleye, pike and bass stuff, but this show was targeted at the salmon guys - it's too far away from Lake St.Clair, Saginaw Bay and Lake Erie for me, but I'm glad I went...I'm really starting to get a bad case of cabin fever. I can't wait to hit the open water! Bill

Bill, I'm from Sterling Heights and 20-25 minutes from Lake St Clair, depending on traffic. Been to the Irish Hills area and fished on Lake LeAnn when relatives had a place there. Been going up to Caseville and fishing on Saginaw Bay all my llife. Drove over to the launch site yesterday and there were quite a few people out on the ice, more than i expected anyway, with those 2 hot days we had. Used to just fish for perch because that's what my Dad did, but I've been expanding my horizons lately. Jim |

Depending on traffic is right, Pill. 16 mile is still a mess. Hey Bill, Mike from Roseville here. A stones throw from 94, so Lake St. Clair is "right in my backyard" if you ask me. What's the name of your tackle company? I wouldn't mind helping out a Michigan made business if they can help me catch some hogs. |

just got back from up that way red and there was plenty of snow when i was up there--couldn't even drive back all the way to the trailer. then the 2 days of warm air came in and they lost most of it as i was leaving. but a friend of mine says they got 8" sunday....so it shouldn't be to bad for the sleds. there was plenty of ice also, but the fishing has been very slow. maybe the fish'n will be better for ya. oh ya there was only 18" of ice when i was up there last week.

Hi Mike, My tackle company is called Tipton Tackle Mfg.Co. LLC. I'm going to have a web site soon, and it will most likely be Tiptontackle.com. I've got blade baits, craft hair jigs, weight-forward lures, spoons, ice tackle etc... I'm heading to bait shops in the Monroe area in the next couple weeks to try to get some stuff in the stores. I have also contacted the NAFC folks about sending in some stuff for the member testing program. Send me an email with your phone number and I'll give you a call. My email address is tiptontackle@yahoo.com Bill |

i got back last nihgt.the weather was great.the mrs and her family got 2 desent days of sledding and said the trails were alittle rough but, they put in around 100 miles total.i only made to round lake to fish and it looked like i was the only one out there, caught alot of finger sized perch.couldn'tfind any shiners for pike unless i went to ludington or back to baldwin.there was about 8-10 of ice and about 6 of snow.anyway, had a good time.getting thunderstorm here right now.this will open all the lakes here and the fishing will start to pick up for the saugeyes, cats and crappie. |
