Surpised do one has mentioned Alamo lately, actually that lake has put out a fair number of bass and crappie in recent weeks.  Shane (eldest living in Salome) and his wife caught a batch of crappie fishing from shore recently.  Shane and I went out and did poorly, the weather change put fish off.  Thef lake is down about 10' so shallow brushy areas we fished last year are now islands but the launch ramps are still in good shape and plenty of room in the camp grounds.

I'll have to try it there someday. It's just too far for me, especially with the price of fuel what it is now.

True, you do have some very good places which are closer but for those in the area, the notice that the lake might be closed was bad because the next closest area would be Parker or Ehernsburg (sp). I do go once in a while because of family.
