My father and I drove around Harry S. Truman lake on 2/18/11. The ice has finally melted off,  and many boat ramps are now open as is the discharge water area below the dam. The old River channel below the dam may have some ice in it, but it will be unsafe to walk on and should blow open at any time.

Crappie were being caught through the ice up until Weds. 2/16/11, and then the wind and 60* temp****,  opening almost all of the lake [and ramps] in less than 36 hrs.  Many local lakes and ponds are now open too.

My rods and reels are ready to help offset a bad case off winter's Cabin Fever.  Watch out Crappie and Walleye.

Walleye are now biting in the rip-rap below Truman Dam. Some females with eggs have been caught weighing up to 8 lbs.!! I will be there all I can in decent weather and some nice Crappie should start cruising for spawning spots before too long.

    Crappie and Walleye fillets.... YUM!!!!
