I have used several different reels for Braid for lots of years and several were "Cut" with the Braided line.  Line rollers, bails etc.  Is there a good [not expensive] reel out there you fellows use for braid without my problems? Under $100 if possible.  tks  Ole

I'm not going to endorse a particular brand but the thing to look for is a titanium coated bail and line roller. A coated spool is also helpful. Check to make sure your line roller isn't gummed up and not rotating properly as it is often neglected! I have been using braid and fused line on my Shimano Solstace reels (all older, the ones that came with a spare spool) and haven't had any problems so far. Tom

It also depends on the type of water that is being fished on. Braid lines, when worn, may pick up the dirt and silt from the water. Those particals may be what's scratching up the metals and creating those line grooves.

I've personally haven't had my reels cut into.  Only my old rod with the stainless steel line guides and that was with plain mono lines and dirty water.
