This is a duplicate, I want to make sure everyone sees this. Out of the PC people here who uses IE and who uses Firefox or other browser? This seems to affect site response. I started a poll under Miscellanious.. Tom

    Tom,

Greg asked you about your specs after a conversation with me.   You wouldn't think it makes a difference, but it makes a HUGE difference.   Windows version, browser brand and version, etc etc.

In your case, you were running a fairly modern computer, with a modern OS and a modern browser... yet your Firefox to Internet Explorer experiences seem to be night and day.

I've use our club sites with both browsers.   For Javascript heavy sites, which FishingClub definately is, Firefox will probably yield the most pleasurable experience.   IE works but just not as well...

In your case, when Greg first talked about your issue, my gut feeling was something was messed up with your IE... maybe not for all sites, but with respect to your browser's relationship with FC.

I'll try and remember to find a "Keeping your browsers tuned up" tutorial and pass it on to Greg (remind me if I forget Greg).

    -Joel

I am by no means an authority on web issues but my regular fishing buddy spent years in IT, 12 years of it maintaining Motorola's cell phone division web presence along with other IT issues and he assures me that it should be possible to if not eliminate the problems, at least mitigate them. I don't feel the members should have to switch browsers just to get the site to perform adequately. Unfortunately, some of us are tied to a PC and IE due to circumstances beyond our control. Seems no-one wants to vote in my poll, so maybe members don't care. If that is the case, they should stop complaining! Tom

It's our goal to produce a club site which works for most recent browsers.

I can't be certain without actually looking at your PC, but I'll wager if your IE to FC experience is far worse than your FF to FC experience, it's not likely due to browser incompatibility and might be due to something being messed up in your IE browser cache. FF and IE don't use the same cache, and might be running better than IE because of that. That might also be why you can browser other sites just fine, but not FC (because those parts of the cache aren't having problems).

In IE, on the tools menu click Internet Options. A new window will open and on the general tab (the first tab), under browsing history there is a Delete button. Click that and then Ok. That will force IE to flush the cache. Then close all instances of IE and try it again and see if that squares things away.

Be warned though, if you have browser remembering passwords, this might clear that information (if you check the little tick off).

This is more of a test post. I just cleared my browser history so we shall see. No harm anyway as I have never stored passwords on IE. One big advantage to FF that many members would enjoy is that it has a built in spell check. Very basic-it just underlines words it thinks are misspelled, but better than nothing and it is automatic.
