What browser do you use to access the club site?
    A) IE (9)
     69%
    B)Firefox (2)
     15%
    C) Other (2)
     15%
I guess we can do a poll!(assuming this works) Apparently the site reacts differently to different browsers! Tom

I am trying Firefox right now and it seems to have eliminated some of the problems but I don't think that we should have to change browsers to make up for a shortcoming in the site. Like many others on IE, I don't have problems anywhere else. Tom

Tom, I use Firefox but access through Yahoo. I don't know how all these things work but my speed isn't an issue. Actually I mean my browsers speed- MINE is another story! The issue I have is it seems sometimes the links don't work. I'm not sure why but when I access the site on the computer I can use at work, I often have to go to the 'home' page before going somewhere on the site.
Is that a site issue or does it have something with the way my company has it's computer/network configured- I don't know.

Hey Tom, I'm using IE and I can go on any other site just fine. I'm gonna say that at least 40 % of the time I get a slow response or even error messages when navigating this site

My idea when putting up the poll was to give the IT guys some idea of what the members are using. It is my understanding that most web sites are optimized for IE, with other browsers secondary. If the members don't get off the stick and vote there won't be a valid sample to show IT! I decided to stick my nose in this after Greg came along and I saw some effort on the club's part. Now they need the info to make the largest percentage of club members happy. Tom

I don't know what any of those are. I never have had the desire to learn about computers extensively.

A web browser is a software application for retrieving, presenting, and traversing information resources on the World Wide Web.
"IE" is short for Internet Explorer.
I am using IE. Depending on the day, the speed works either turtle slow or sloth slow. Either way, it's SLOW.

Oh, I see. My confusion lied in the IE acronym. I did not know that meant Internet Explorer. So we are not talking about internet modems? Only the specific browsers we use? In that case, I use Google Chrome. If I sound somewhat preindustrial, I apologize. I just have never devoted a significant amount of time towards learning how to navigate or comprehend this new technology. Joke's on me I suppose.

just my opinion but the real reason that the clubs (nafc, nahc, etc.) sites are so slow is the mulitple video advertisements that have to load everytime you enter the site or navigate to another page in the site. I know that advertisements pay for most of everything that is involved in the clubs sites and magazines and will have to just live with it, that 's why I read the magzine in about an hour and then put it in file 13 because 75% of the paper is consumed in advertising. I also have a significant delay in the loading of the nafc site aind it is significantly slower now with the site design, use IE8.

My intent on starting the poll was to see if we could get the IT guys to tweak the site to work better with IE. Apparently this is not as high a priority as all the complaining led me to believe. I am sure the animated and video ads slow the site some, but how come they don't affect other sites? Also, the ads should not affect the way the site switches pages. There is a difference in the way the site works if you come in through Firefox as opposed to IE. Tom

Google Chrome performs very poorly when using this site. It is fast, but it won't allow you to post pictures or add those smiling faces in the forums. It's lame.
