I have always had good luck with shrimp. both live and frozen.

    Good luck and tight lines,

If at first you don't succeed, maybe you shouldn't try sky diving!

It would help to know where you are fishing as techniques very greatly in different locations. I mainly fish LA & MS but have fished in just about every state that has Reds and Specks.

It is hard to beat live bait as Saltydan said but i'm a diehard artificial fisherman.
Specks : Plastics (minnow or shrimp) will catch numbers if that is what you are looking for. Try Hybrids, DOA's, H&H, Deadly Dudley, and Gulp. Also try using a popping cork. For larger trout or tournament fishing I use topwater (topdog, or Porgey), swimbaits (Mirrodine or Mirrolures), rattle traps (not in clear water), and plastic swimbaits.

Redfish: Shallow water or sight fishing I use wake baits such as Mann's Flat's stalker or Baby Minus 1 (my favorite), spinner baits made for redfish, (old faithful) gold spoons, and plastics. In deep water try plastics tipped with shrimp or we use rattle traps sometimes in winter. I don't, but it is hard to beat a jighead suspended under a popping cork or on bottom with a big ole dead stinky shrimp. I don't do this because I get to many trash fish.

    Good luck!

Well the obvious is live and dead shrimp. Cracked crabs are also a good redfish bait. As for lures topwaters I have luck with a hot pink. (laugh if you want it works) I have had no luck with Gulp shrimp, but regular plastics in Chartruse and clear flake are my go to colors.

Always hard to beat live bait like shrimp or crabs--best part of that is when you are finished you can always eat your bait, especially live wild Georgia shrimp or while tide is out at the right time of year you can even harvest a gallon of fresh oysters.  I prefer artificial bait when I'm fishing.  Reds enjoy spoons, especially a gold Johnson spoon.  Reds and trout love plastic grubs in variety of colors--my favorite is called "electric chicken".  Don't forget there are an abundance of flounder in the same waters.  I use plastics for the flounders as well as fresh squid.  Abundance of fish on the Georgia Coast!  Just brace yourself cause the next one may stretch your line a little.  God Bless and remember to always leave it better than you found it!  Uncle Tom
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

We call specks weakfish( or tiderunners) up here in the Northeat I sometimes pickup a few of of them along with the bass usually before the the spawning run of blues gets started. Bucktails with soft plastic curltailed trailers usually work best for me some times soft plastic swimm shads too

Live shrimp is the best bait for speckled sea trout in my area. Cut up a lady fish and use it for red fish.
The fishing at Jacksonville Beach Fl pier has been really good for trout.
