Airbrushing wooden lures problem

I started using an airbrush on the crankbaits I've been making but I'm having problems with flouresant paint cracking when it dries the regular paint does fine tried everything I can think of but it still keeps cracking any suggestions
bass or bass?

Hmmm...I'm no expert but it sounds like you might be applying too much paint at one time or applying additional coats before the coat underneath has fully cured. I don't think this is much of a problem with water based paints but it might be with solvent based paint. I use water based paint and have never had this problem even though I need to apply quite a few coats of the bright colors, especially chartreuse. The only other reason I can think of would be an issue with the paint. What type of paint are you using and are you applying more paint with the florescent colors than the other colors?

what sierra fishing said the florescent colors tend to be more transparent than other paints.I have had the same problem with other paints. What happens is it takes more coats to build them up to get the finish you want. You may also want to increase the drying time between coats. I have used a lot of lacquer and they all will crack if you put it on too thick.
