I would like to know what you put in the pockets of your fishing vests. Is it loaded with flys, boxes, stringers etc. I am trying to eliminate carrying my tackle bag over my shoulder and just use my vest instead.

Hey jbird68...What an AWESOME question. I received a vest for Christmas and I couldn`t figure out how to stuff it so as to eliminate my carry bag/tacklebag. I´ll be watching to see what kinds of suggestioons you get.

Some times it all depends on what you are fishing for. I usually use mine for trout or creek fishing. Start with the basics, if you keep fish you will need a stringer. A pocket knife is always good. I carry some flies but not all, just the 1s you want to use for the day. I have a small plastic box that I keep my split shots, hooks, a couple spinners, and a lure or 2. A lot of times I will put my worms in a pocket, always have my powerbait ( so bait). A cloth tape measure, if you want. Maybe a towel for your hands especially in the winter time. You might want to add a bobbin. A pair of forceps, if the fish swallows the hook. And when I go for a long hike down the creek I'll throw in a drink and some snacks.
When I go river fishing and Im just sitting there, thats when I bring my tackle bag. It has all my river fishing gear and all the heavy stuff.

A lot depends on how many pockets your vest has, what you're fishing for, etc.  The stuff in my vest will turn over several times in during the year.  Currently we are fishing for Steelhead and I use jigs under a float most of the time.  Upper left pocket has my license and tag along with some yarn (several colors) in film bottles.  Next pocket down is a large zippered one that my fly/jig boxes go into.  I will usually have two fairly large ones.  On the front of that are two small velcro pockets that have hooks in several sizes and spare jiigs in the other.  Right upper has fly floatant and scissors.  Next down has a lighter and a few jigs.  Large zippered pocket I have one of the round storage things with several compartments which contain snap swivels, crane swivels, corkies, beads, spare sleeves for the floats, and a few tri-swivels.  The two velcro pockets in front of that have two spools of leader and several sizes of split shot.  Inside zipper pocket has several extra floats and long nose pliers.

Well I trout fished for the first time last year and we use spinning gear instead of a flyrod. I am looking for a box to hold my in-lline spinners(Roadrunners, Johnson Beetle spins, Mepps, Panther Martins, etc.). I have a few plano small boxes but the spinners don't really fit in there well. The flyrod usually only comes out at the lake when the Bluegills start to spawn. I have a stringer in a pocket already and a pair of forceps clipped to a strap. Just wondering what to put in the smaller sized pockets. they look like I could put film canisters in them. But what to put inthe cannisters?

If your local tackle shop doesn't have a large selection of Plano boxes, you might try Jann's Netcraft.  They have a pretty good selection of Plano and other boxes your spinners should fit in.  Go on-line at www.jannsnetcraft.com or call 1-800-638-2723 and order a catalog.  One of my favorite trout tactics is just a 6mm bead on the leader above the hook.  It works very well dead drifted in the current, especially f there are fish spawning in the area.  Beads, hooks, swivels, and split shot would all fit well in the film cans.
