    Was wondering if any one had any ideas on catching gizzard shad with out a cast net. Some of the areas i fish on the potomac river it is illegal to use a cast net.

    It's illegal for us MN to use cast net or snag them. So about the only thing I can do is a dip net. On a very rare occassion they'll try biting a lure.

    On the rare occasion they will bite a shad dart....Other than that, or a dip net, good luck.
