I was just wondering at what water temperatures would a shore fisherman like me be able to go catch a good number of Largemouth Bass from the bank?

A publication from my state says that about 73 degrees is prime largemouth temperature, but most panfish and the smallmouth are a little bit below that temp.

When water temperatures exceed 60 degrees Fahrenheit, largemouth bass become active.

I've caught a lot already, and the water temp is between 40 and 45 degrees. Have mainly caught then around docks using tube jigs. However, caught nothing for the last 3 days, so believe they've moved away from the docks towards shallower water. Will start using plastic worm shortly.

I have never checked the water temps but being shore fisherman, my guess is air temps of more than 60 degrees will do it.

fish start to move in the shallows when the water gets above 58 degrees looking for bed properties and rubbing. After that assuming you dont get any cold fronts or heavy storms they should be on beds in shallow water depending on the lake ( some lakes bed deeper than others) They have already started moving up here. We just had a major storm and one on the way I havent been out since not sure if they have backed off or not. Once they move up fish creatures, craws and senko's on the beds.ood luck. Scott
