For those who are new to trout fishing and wondering what a good trout creek should look like. Heres some pics of my favorite creek, it is in the northwest of pa. In the pics you can see it has alot of shady areas. Good flow of water, even in the summer. Alot of trees fallen in the water. Plus it holds native (wild trout). If any one else would like to share please do.

It's interesting to see what trout streems look like in other places. way different that what we have here in Utah but still very fishy looking. I like the looks of that last Photo myself. something like this would make a great permanent thread on this forum. Maybe post a pic and have other members comment about where or how they would fish that section. it would be a good learning tool for everyone.

bpeterson, I thinks that's a great idea and I would learn from it because I still consider myself beginner to intermediate. In these spots and if allowed, I would use 5' 6" or 6' pole, an ultra lite spinning reel, 2# test( I still don't know how to fly fish) a Berkley atomic teaser 1/32 oz or a trout worm on a #12 mosquito hook. Cast up stream and let it float down while twitching a little.

I would say on that last picture if I was gear fishing I would toss a size 2 blue fox spinner in gold upstream to were the riffle starts and crank it down through the hole and past the submerged rocks just fast enough to keep the blade moving. next I would for sure work upstream and hit that overgrown bank. that log jam on the second pic looks pretty good also.

well guys. What I use is a 4'5'' fishing rod. A small spinning reel with 4 to 6lb line. A size 8 to 10 barbless hook,I will be trying a circle hook this year for them cause im tired of them swallowing the hook and I am a catch and release guy.For bait all I use is 1 color of powerbait, maybe some garden worms. If I am able to catch them. I put a small sinker on and cast away. Casting in open water is harder but to fish where trees are in the water and where the bankment slopes over the water are great places, also the creek has little watefalls on it and that is another great place for the fish. They do'' love'' to hide. IM not saying they arent in the open water if its a nice hole and you can see them thier, you can catch them. On a good day we can usually catch about or over 30 fish. Heres some of the natives.

Looks like it has some good under cut banks. Usually I'd say throw a spinner, but some of those edges make me want to drift a fly or small worm right along the banks. Beautiful stream.
