I was wondering I've seen these fish lights that are supposed to bring bait fish in near your boat,Would a glow stick work to attract minnows into your bait trap?
Even if you still baited it with bread would the glow stick improve the number of minnows you catch?

Not too sure about that, Lycotrout. The main reason that those lights work is because they are above the surface, and they in turn attract bugs, which the minnows then come to eat, which finally the gamefish come to eat. Because the light would be under the surface, I don't think it would attract nearly as many bugs, reducing your ability to attract minnows. You can try it, and I would be very interested to hear what your results would be. One quick thing, make sure that your glow stick is secure and leak-proof, that stuff inside them is really nasty from an environmental standpoint.

Throw a glow stick in a pop bottle with a rope attached to it ,then tie that to the trap .If it attracts insects to it, it will work .

Take a kid fishing , If the fish aint biting entertain them. Photobucket

An underwater speaker playing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is also quite effective! Tom

The underwater light are supposed to work by drawing the tiny bugs on which the minnows feed and it goes from there. Actually, look at what they call a "crappie light", it is a light suspended on a float to shine into the water. The "fishing secret" light is a green flourescent light which is suspended in the water to attract fish, starting with the most minute of forage bits.

Any minnow around here just thinks Beethoven is a big dog so If I can't find a recording of the creek chubs mating call  I think I'll try the light with some bread crumbs. My other problem is setting the trap without someone stealing it
