Our school has been going crazy with trying to limit the websites that can be used on school computers.  They block all shopping websites, gaming websites, obviously x rated websites but lately they have been going crazy.  Today I was in homeroom and we had to sit there for an hour and a half so the juniors could do they're standardized tests that the state requires.  My homeroom is a computer lab so I though great now I can go on the NAFC website.  Nope it was blocked as being sports/recreation.  Can you believe that?  I was so mad.

I have a great solution: drop out of school! Then you can devote more time to fishing and the website! Ha ha!

At the risk of sounding old (I am) school is a place of learning, and not about fishing! While you are in school, use the time to learn things that you will rely on later in life,, there is plenty of time to take care of fishing related stuff after school and on weekends. While you might have been using time that otherwise would be wasted, schools need to make rules for the entire school day and unfortuneatly many students tend to abuse priveleges. Spend time like that with a good book. You might enjoy it! Tom

You're right Tom, you are "sounding old".  Nuthin' wrong with that.  I am too.  But.....   I agree with you completely!  In school, focus on the learn'n!  There is plenty of time later to take care of the fun'n!  Enjoy your youth while you can, but don't let it get away from you.

If I were in your situation, I would have asked my teacher if there was a way she could possibly override the block.  Usually there's some sort of code the teacher can imput to bypass the block.  If he or she doesn't by it, you could try and explain why you wanted to go on the club site.

Good grief! I'm old too, but not too old to remember that there's nothing going on about learning in home room! Getting on the NAFC website is surely more productive than the usual home room activities.(sleeping, throwing spit balls, reading comics)

Maybe the time could be used to get ahead in required reading or such, thus freeing up afterschool hours for other pursuits!

Hold on guys, you're showing your age again, lol. There's going to be a lot more girls at school than after hours...so we're right back to square one!Whether looking at girls or the NAFC on the computer, he's still not spending time productively...well, in my book either one is better than SLEEPING through homeroom! Even better, take a girl fishing. Now that's productive!

Fishing teaches alot of things. I find it a little unusual they didn't let ya look at the site unless you were suppose to be learnin' something else at that particular time. We need more people to be involved in environmental issues, water quality, natural resources and things like that. Fishin' is a good study. Who knows, you might end up bein' a fish biologist someday.

But maybe you won't. With the world the way it is, you definitely want to be focusing on your education in school. Otherwise you may not be able to support yourself or your fishing career when the time comes.

    I wish ya luck.

Well, school computers are supposed to be for "Education" purposes and they school gets to choose what they consider education--and schools teach some wierd stuff nowdays. Acutally they always did, I remember a teacher saying that English is a Latin based language, which could not be further from the truth.

Of course, you could try to go to one of the colleges which have bass teams!!!!!!, need good grades for that.

of coarse most of those type of sites are block in school not because they are considered fun sites...but the content that is in them.....allot of schools have labeled sites like nafc, nhfc, nra, mi. er ohio sportsman, woods & stream....etc......as sites with to much violance and there thinking behind that is most of those sites advertise or use guns /hurt animals in their articals.
i notice almost everyone that had responded to this thread is like....-----old----....--ya know before computers......hehheheheheheheeee

Your time in school should be used to further your education in subjects that are actually taught at your school. However if you had all your homework done and have nothing else to do you might approach a teacher that you know does fish and discuss this with him/her. Or you could bring a good fishing magazine and read that. I hope this is ok to say but other than the magazine that NAFC puts out the In'Fisherman is also very good at educating people in how to fish for many different species. Never stop learning.

He's right.  I wouldn't go on here unless all my work was done.

Work comes first, forums come second!

Good luck in college!  Unfortunately, without you, this forum will be even more dead than before.

I know what you mean when you have nothing to do and want some time to pass. Kinda sucks that they blocked fishing sites. At my school im pretty sure some flash game sites are not even blocked.
