Where would you go to fish for Northern Pike in AZ? I have had some mixed info on this... I read you can go up towards Flagstaff on or near Lake Mary to fish for Pike there. Also I read there are no Pike in AZ... Which I am finding hard to swallow. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!

I can imagine that if they're in AZ, they've gotta be rare.  Pike prefer cooler water, which isn't particularly common in Arizona.  They'd have to be in a deep, cool lake...

Lake Mary near Flagstaff and Parker Canyon Lake south east of Tucson are the only places to catch pike in Arizona. Pike were illegally stocked in those lakes and Arizona Game and Fish requires all pike caught to be killed.

Near Flagstaff, Ashurst Lake and Long lake. Near Show Low, Rainbow Lake and Fools Hollow Lake. This according to the AZGFD website.

Harvest isn't all that bad an idea. Pike are quite tasty, the tough part is learning how to remove the 'Y'bones. There is a technique called a "zipper strip" that works quite well but it is beyond me to describe it here. Tom

On the AZGFD website. it was reported that some pike were netted from Ashurst lake prior to trout stocking, presumably to give the trout a chance. Might be that rainbow imitations would be a good bet.

There's an article that talks about how to do that in on of the NAFC Angler's Library books.  If you don't have any Angler's Library books, then you're seriously missing out.

Thanks, I went back and looked it up, now all I need is a pike big enough to keep (26" in CT) AND big enough to be worthwhile cleaning!
