My club recently held it's first bass kayak fishing tournament, and 50% of the proceeds would benefit Heroes on the Water. I thought I would share the story with you. Registration was slow, but we had 14 anglers join us for our first tournament, the Florida Bass Paddlers "Big Bass Lucky Draw" which was to help raise money for Heroes on the Water! The tournament was held on Square Lake, located inside John Prince Park located in Lake Worth Florida.
Anglers from a few different forums joined us, and shortly after my arrival (I had to be there first with the Captains Bag's) anglers were eager to unload and get the party started:
Frank went over the rules a final time, and we sent the anglers on their way:

Before we knew it, Mother Nature decided to drop severe fog on us:
Shortly after 9:30, the fog lifted, and the anglers found their spots:
The fish cooperated as well! We saw fish from 6" to 22", and many in between, caught and released:
18 Bass qualified for a "Lucky Draw" ticket, but over 30 Bass were caught and released!
Smallest fish took home a prize:
...and so did the biggest which was caught by Sam McPherson:
Everyone went home with something, but more importantly, everyone had a great time and we raised $125 for HOW! It may not seem like a lot, but it is a start! Our club is still small, but growing!
