Small fatheads on a jig or under a slip bobber for crappies and perch, magnum fatheads on a jig or under a slip bobber for walleye, golden shiners, suckers or bluegills for pike. |

I don't use live bait much, either. |

I guess it really is a regional thing, when I was in Imperial county CA, the favorite was redfin miinows, (bright silver with red fins) with bluegills for the big cat hunters. Now where I live it is shiners, bluegills and threadfin shad. I some of the areas, goldfish are legal and do have a following. Some people also use mudsuckers, a hardy species of saltwater catfish (sculpin like). you do really have to consult the regs. because what is legal here may not be legal just over the hill. |

I like chubs for catfish, shiners for bass, red belly dace or fatheads for crappies.

It depends where you are and what your lake is like. My lake is filled with yellow perch, so i usually try to catch them to use as bait.
