A lot of us, including myself, are on a low budget, so don't feel bad. |

hey duggan welcome to the club. it seems alot of us are on tight budgets. Thats the great thing about fishing, you can still do well without putting out alot of money. Brian |

one can find stuff left behind some times and fish with that I have grabbed line out of a trash can and tied on a 1 /64 oz hair jig and caught crappies of the dock . so one can fish with out much expense if the need is there . plastics and jigs is also a good place to start . I was nice enough to leave me tackle box behind once when fishing before work and welll some one was kind of nice and cleand up after me so i had to start over from scratch and money was tight so i started of with jig heads and plastic trailers added in some crank baits. If you live near a river some times when the water level goes down you can walk the banks and find stuff. or you can make your own lures. example : SOUP CAN trolling spoon take a soup can cut a oval out of it with one end smaller then the other then file the edges Mark the center line then drill a hole near each end and and add a split ring to each end add a hook to one end adjust bend in spoon for different speeds or action .

YOU DON'T HAVE TO HAVE BIG MONEY RODS AND REELS TO CATCH FISH. I'VE BEEN FISHING FOR OVER FIFTY YEARS, AND THE FIRST THREE OR FOUR YEARS I USED NOTHING BUT A HAND LINE WROND AROUND A CLOROX BOTTLE. I COUGHT HUNDREDS OF FISH ON MY HAND LINE. WHEN I GOT MY FIRST ROD AND REEL, IT WAS A HAND ME DOWN. THE FIRST NEW ROD AND REEL I BOUGHT COST ME 15 DOLLARS WHEN I WAS FORTEEN YEARS OLD. ALTHOUGH THE REEL FELL APART YEARS AGO, I STILL HAVE THAT ROD AND STILL USE IT TODAY FORTY FOUR YEARS LATER. THE MOST MONEY I HAVE EVER SPENT ON A ROD OR REEL WAS FORTY DOLLARS, FOR BOTH ROD AND REEL. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE FOUND THAT THE CHEEPER TACKLE IF YOU ARE CAREFULL, CAN BE JUST AS GOOD AS BIG MONEY TACKLE, AND LAST JUST AS LONG AS LONG AS YOU TAKE CARE OF EVERYTHING. AFTER FIFTY YEARS OF FISHING I HAVE ABOUT TEN BAIT CASTERS AND FIFTEEN SPINNING REELS. ALONG WITH RODS FOR EACH REEL. RATHER I BOUGHT THEM OR RECIEVED THEM AS GIFTS, NONE OF THEM AS I SAID COST MORE THAN FORTY DOLLARS FOR ANY COMBO I OWN. LOOK AT EVERY YARD SALE YOU PASS BY, I HAVE FOUND 25% OF MY TACKLE AT YARD SALES AND MOST THE TIME FIVE DOLLARS WILL BUY ANY ROD OR REEL. aT ONE YARD SALE I PICKED UP SEVEN TACKLE BOXES FULL OF TACKLE FOR TWENTY DOLLARS. THE TACKLE IN THESE BOXES WERE WORTH OBOUT TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS, AFTER I WENT THROUGH IT ALL. PLUS THERE WERE TWO PUSH BUTTON REELS IN ONE OF THE BOXES. WHAT I'M TRYING TO SAYIS YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON FISHING TACKLE. BETWEEN YARD SALES AND SALES AT YOUR LOCAL BAIT SHOP, YOU CAN SUPPLY YOURSELF VERY WELL ON A VERY LOW BUGGET IF YOU LOOK AROUND FOR THE RIGHT DEALS.

I agree with RHANK1, you can get a lot of stuff at yard sales or your local flee market that will last you a very long time and wont break your bank acc. Money is tight with the economy the way it is right know there probably is not alot of people going to bass pro shops speniding alot of money.. |
