Just picked up a big bag of mallard flank feathers from the local Orvis store and when I got home and sat down to tie some Hornbergs I noticed that pretty much every single feather was curled so much that I couldn't use it. Anyone got a neat trick or something to straighten out these feathers so they are usable?

I am not sure how you plan to use them but Normally you would just tie them curve down .

You could get them wet and lay them flat on a flat surface or piece of glass to dry

If Not You can still use them for something else like soft hackles or to make dry fly wings .

Just a thought but maybe you could try placing the feathers in between a couple of wash cloths and then iron them.
