Dad taught me the improved clinch when I was about 7. Still one of my favorites for mono as is the Uni or the Duncan as I learned it. I use the Palomar for superlines and braids. I usually tie the Rapala on cranks and other times I need a loop knot.

Palomar and modified Trilene knots are all I use except for the Duncan loop, which I use to tie fly line to backing and leaders to fly line.

I am unsure of the name of knot I use, I haven't seen it on knot wars yet either, that I've found through the app anyways. But I've got a decent knot that I use, that seems to hold up pretty well.

The Improved Clinch Knot is my preferred method! It is very basic and simple to tie yet incredibly effective. All these new fancy knots you see on "Knot Wars" are too complicated for the most part and take much longer to tie and I have not seen any valid scientific evidence that proves they are stronger than any other knot. I would rather be fishing than fumbling around with some gimmick knot from the bogus "Knot Wars!" Which I believe is not an accurate test of a knot's actual strength because they use  flawed methods in their experiments. But I digress...

The biggest problem with most of the knots seen on Knot Wars is that they are too difficult to tie correctly. The improved clinch is an easy to tie knot that works well with mono and fluoro but is less than worthless with any kind of superline. I have yet to find a better knot for superlines than the Palomar in terms of strength and ease of tying. I find that 3 knots fill my needs, the Palomar, the Uni in various forms and the improved clinch.

Palomar & Uni are my go to.

As much as I those two are my staple also have to say the Trilene knot is absolutely least liked. It cost me three lures last year, and I never will use it again. Maybe part of it can be blamed on my inexperience and I'll take the slack for it, but after once or twice I thought I had it figured out and it still cost me. The tag end always slipped out of the knot and my lure went flying. Lost a hula popper, bucktail jig, and Dancin' eel on the cast when the knot slipped. Thankfully, or maybe not, I never had a fish on when the knot gave up.

I personally like Knot Wars and think it's kind of cool, but at the same time the knots are too complicated and I'll never use them. Ones like the Homer Knot was neat to see done, but I'll never use it. I don't want to spend time fumbling with a knot when I'd rather have the lure I'm trying to tie-on in the water.

Hope everybody is doing well and best wishes,

I'm a big fan of the trilene knot. I find it easy to tie and works well on mono or braid. The knot has never, and mean never failed me. After you loop through the eye twice turn (4 or 5 times for lighter lines, 3 or 4 times for heavier lines) and tuck the tag under the two loops, wet it down, and it cinches nice and easy. Pull the main line tight, then pull the tag tight, and cut it leaving about a quarter of an inch for insurance. The uni to uni is what I use to join leader to main line. I've been snagged and had the line break before either knot failed.

I use a good old Uni knot for just about every thing. The most important thing to remember about knots is NONE of them work good if not tied correctly.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Uni knot for tying my connections, swivels, snap locks. Albright knot for connecting braid to flurocarbon and I snell all of my hooks. It's much cheaper to make your own rigs. When I bass fish I use a variation of the improved clinch not. And as Mo is right on with his statement. None of them work good if there not tied correctly.

Good point Vito, about snelling those hooks. A few years back I started using Gamakatsu Octopus hooks with the out-turned eye...so I had to learn to snell a hook. Best thing I've ever done for my catfishing game. I can't think of anything better for big game than a snelled Gamakatsu, but for bass fishing, the Uni knot or Improved Clinch are hard to beat.

Homer circle knot is the strongest knot I've ever tried. I also use the palomar knot for braid and superline.

Has anyone here tried out Jack Hooks? The new Knotless hook that WORKS! I have to say, these hooks are awesome! Spend less time tying knots, and more time fishing!
