I have just found a nice pond in North Carolina and did not know what bait was most affective in most ponds. I went to this pond yesterday and caught 19 fish on worms and crankbaits. But that was all I tried.

Fishing for bass in ponds may be the best kept secret around, especially when much bigger lakes are near by.  Lures for pond fishing are very similar to lake fishing.  Right now they are hitting crankbaits and spinner baits because bluegills and shad are moving to the shallows to spawn.  As the weather continues to warm up bass have a tendency to hit plastics.  Plastics come in a great array of colors and species.  I personally like Zoom Plastics because of the quality and variety of colors.  When you have the time it is lots of fun to make your own.  The big problem with ponds is overfishing.  It is very important to catch and release and with this warmer weather it is usually early morning and late afternoon--don't forget the moonlight nights.  Sounds like you have already hit the jackpot.  Good luck and good fishing!  Uncle Tom  Great place and time for the kids as welll.  If you don't have kids--borrow one and you will have a friend for life.
I built my own lure company as a young man--thus the name UncleTomsJigs. It grew so well I decided to give it up and go fishing with family, friends and especially grand children. I became disabled as a United Methodist Pastor IN 2002 and retired here in Coastal Georgia on a 10 acre lake where I continue to fish despite my disabilities. My wonderful wife and I enjoy fishing together. God has blessed us in so many ways and we pray the same for you. I am excited about having so many new friends all over this great country.

It sounds like worms & crankbaits were pretty good. I would try dragging a musky jitterbug across that pond and hang onto the rod tight!
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

I'm in Pennsylvania and I fish a few ponds pretty regularly. Most of the time you can't go wrong with a white spinner bait, but it's been really hot lately and the water levels have dropped dangerously low and i think that's making the fish sluggish and they stopped hitting the spinner. I switched over to twitching finesse worms and that's been doin the trick. also a twister tail grub on a jig head works great over top of weeds.

P.S. If you really wanna have fun on a pond get yourself a fly rod and tie on a nice big popper!!!
