Shimano has several nice Baitcasters if you would spend just a little more you could get the Curado E7 its $169 its an awesome baitcaster. Bass Pro SHops has several baitcasters for under a $100 there all great but if it was me I would go with a Shimano you get what you pay for |

Quantum baitcaster reels are great no matter which specific one you buy. Even their cheapest ones, the Response and the Burst are very solid, long lasting, dependable reels. As far as the rod goes, it all depends on what kind of fishing you are doing, but I trust St. Croix and Bass Pro Shops brand rods. |

Bass Pro Shop - Pro Qualifier reel is very nice for the price. I got one end of last year on sale for $50. It is currently on sale online for $79.99 (print out the online sale price and the store will match it). I have mine on a medium action ugly stick and works very nice. You will be at like $130 for the reel and rod. The Reel is made by Pflueger (this is what I was told by a few sources) so it is a decent manufacturer. It has good reviews and the guy at the Bass Pro by me said it is the second top selling reel they have (number 1 in that price range).
[edit] Sorry Basbandit just noticed you recommended as well - so x2 on Basbandit's post. [/edit]

Bass Pro Shops Extreme model ETX10HE. They have several models with slow to fast retrieve rates and left or right hand retrieve. List at $79.99. Great reels!
