I finally got a cast iron dutch oven today at flea market. Been trying for awhile to find a decent one. I use my cast iron skillets quite a bit and enjoy the results I get w/them. Now all I have to do is find something good to try it out.

My question is, are any of you guys into cast iron cookware like me or do you prefer the shiny new stuff or let the wife do it all?

We use iron a lot, we use the other stuff also. I haven't used a dutch oven in years, mine is the type with the ring to lift the lid and the bail is designed so the oven can be hung over a fire. Lots of information out there, if you know a Single Action Shooting Society member, ask if you can look at some of his (her) Cowboy Chronicles.

If you cook with cast iron this will make you cry. I had my son and daughteri-inlaw living with me. I came home from work to a 20 year old very clean and shinney 10" cast iron skillet. I wanted to cry, scream and yell but instead went out behind the barn (when my daughter-inlaw wasn't looking) built a bond fire coated the skillet with lard and salt and threw it in the fire and left it for the fire to fix it. I still use and have the same skillet.

It took me years to break my wife of the habit of washing my cast iron with soap and water! One time she actually took a Brillo pad to a pan.

I know what you guys are talking about. Well seasoned cast iron cook ware is the original non stick, but you have to take care of them properly. Most of mine are Griswold with a couple Lodge and Wagner.
