They advertise it as a line that as the same appearance, manageability, and castability of monofilament, but has the zero stretch and strength of braid. Sounds incredible, but a little too incredible almost. Has anyone tried it? |

I tried it. I got a free sample of 4 lb test, had trouble tying my lures on it should have seen it coming when I had the same problem just getting it on the real. Lost two spinners on the first casts of each spinner. It may have been that the line was too light, but it didn't hold the knots well they kept slipping' I was tying the improved clinch knot, never had a problem with that knot before. I won't be buying that line. |

I have never found the improved clinch knot to be any good with any kind of braided or fused line other than dacron braid. The only knot I have found that is consistently good with these lines is the palomar. |

I'm not too impressed with the Nanofil at the moment, as I've lost Jigs (1/4oz) with it using a double palomar knot which is what is recommended. And I bought the 12 lb test line. Sure it can cast far, but if it can't keep a jig on through casting, how many fish will I lose? |

I have tried it also I have to give it thumbs down. Cast really far but its not strong I was fishing #12 test and was getting my line snapped during hook sets very upsetting. It does not hold knots very well either. I lost a lot of quality fish so I put on my other spool that had 832 Sufix braid on it didnt lose another fish or lure the rest of the day. Berkley makes good products but NANOFIL is not one of them. |

I want to try it - see what the hype is about, but no for $19.99 for 150 yards. Hopefully, I can get sample some how. Hint, hint [club]. |

I've been fishing the new Nanofil and it seems alright to me. I'm not sure if it's worth 20 bucks for 150 yds. Any good braid will give similar results, but the one advantage it has over braid is smoothness. It feels and casts silky. Didn't have the knot trouble some of these guys had, but it might not be their knot. This line comes in a maximum strength of 12lbs. If you're used to fishin' 20 or 30lb. braid and rear back on Nanofil like that, you're not gonna have a good day! The same goes for mono, it has stretch, and Nanofil doesn't so watch that hookset. I think Berkley is bound to have trouble marketing this stuff until they offer it in heavier sizes.

I pretty much agree with mo65. I've been fishing this line for several months now and I have not had any problems with knots or line breaking. I too would like to see it made available in heavier line tests. You do have to adjust your hookset though. I use a softer power rod, set the drag on my reel to slip just slightly on the hookset. When you feel a fish hit reel into the fish and then use a slightly gentler than normal sideways sweep set. I have never lost a fish with it yet. |
