Hi Mike, I use left handed reels. I'm right handed and can retrieve with my left MUCH better than I can cast. I'd never hit my target casting left handed. As opposed to hitting it at least occasionally right handed!! |

I'm right handed and cast right handed but I also retrieve right handed so I switch hands with the rod the instant the lure (or fly) hits the water, sometimes before. I have converted my spinning and fly reels to right hand retrieve for consistency so all my casting and retrieving techniques are the same for bait cast, fly cast, or spinning.

so far three of us posted and we all use 3 different techniques pretty cool. prober i use to want to get a left handed reel b/c it made more since to me being right handed and all but my grandmothers boyfriend talked me in to getting the right hand retrive and casting left handed, and i have to say im not disappointed, i still cast awful sometimes but nothing to major or discouraging, lol. and bass or bass? thats intrsting about the spinning tackle ive always just used a left hand retrieve with mine. but i guess its more a habit then "being better" with my left hand retrive b/c that would contradict everything i said about baitcasters, lol. Look ma im a walking contradiction, lol |

I am right handed and but I use left handed reels. When I went to buy my first baitcaster they told me that if you reel with your left on a spinning reel then you get a right handed baitcasting reel with the reel on the right side. But that did not make a dam bit of sense to me. If I cast better with my right and reel better with my left, then why the hell would I switch for a baitcaster? That would be back asswards. |

I cast right and retrieve right for baitcast, and cast right retrieve left with spinning. I guess it works for me since I have done it for so long. lol |

I previously gave up on baitcast reels, but i may try a different style. The first one I had was a $50 Abu classic one that was brand new, but I think I might try one of the more current oval shaped ones, probably still Abu |

I'm a righty with all left handed reels. The one downfall I find to reeling left is the number of lefty reels. I'd like to see more baitcasters with a left hand option |

I'm one one-way and one the other way. Spinning reals I cast with my right hand and reel with my left hand. Baitcasters I cast with my right hand and then transfer to my left and and reel with my right hand. First ZebCo 33 I had was right had reel and I always casted with my right and transferred and never grew out of that I guess. First spinning reel I bought was left-hand reel so I just learned and accepted it as it was. |
