Just to let you know that if your a American and cross the Canadian boarder on the water while fishing on great lakes or St.Lawrence river. You have to let the CBSA know that your entering their country. Now if you are a fishing person or just paddling you will be stopped by the CBSA patrol and have to pay on the spot a fine of $1000.00 they do take credit cards or they will confiscate the boat and all the equipment that is on it. This has all ready happen to a Tournament fisherman while fishing a BASS Tournament. Now the USA is letting the Canadians to enter our waters and fish but can't land the boat on USA soil unless in need of gas or food use of restrooms. Now How is this fare to US citizens being not allowed but the Canada's people can. You can read more about it if you get Bassin times under ( Canada cracks down on boarder fishermen. reported by Frank Sargeant)

I heard of a recent case like this. A USA fishermen was approached by Canadian authorities, but maintained he was in U.S. waters based on his GPS coordinates. This was upheld in court and he paid no fine. |

Well I'd say I'm surprised we never heard back from Jim Edlund(Web Editor) reference this !!!!! But Sadly it doesn't surprise me at all. It seemes the people who run this are really GREAT at not following thru with their promises to do things they say they will. To say I'm disapointed in what has happened to this club is an understatement, maybe one day they will come back to what it was. This will require them to again care about the members and the club and not just want more members and the monies they generate!!!

Psg: this is correct you must inform the canadian customs when you enter canadian waters 1-888-226-7277 Several NYer's have had there boats boardered and seized. I just decided not to buy a canadian license and to stay out of there waters. They don't want my money I won't give it to them. |

Yeah looks like I won't be stopping by there. I’m from Michigan and I have had a good few times where I’m just going over to Canada and had them give me a hard time. One of which they strip searched me didn’t find anything on me (because I didn’t have anything on me) and still denied me access to the country. Long story short I can’t see myself going back to Canada any time in the near future. |
