Has anyone tried the new Fisher's Choice preserved bait in a can? They have crickets, waxworms, and mealworms. Roland Martin says its the bees knees, but I was wondering if anyone not plugging it on TV feels the same.

So far, the only place I have seen it is on TV. I like the idea because sometimes some of the baits are hard to find but I haven't had the chance to try them.

Last month I went camping upstate NY where I get my bass fishing on....I bought 2 cans (for my kids to use for bluegills/pan fish) of Fishers Choice; crickets and Roland Martins favorite...Wax worms!...lol Needless to say, they did work, but not as good as the worms we dug up. If I were to buy/use it again, I would go with the night crawlers and super worms.

I haven't seen it in any of my local outlets, but I like the idea of putting aside some "emergency" bait for those times when it is impossible or inconvenient to get fresh bait. Supposedly, the stuff has a pretty good shelf life and a fair bait beats no bait in my book!

That's what plastic lures are for.   Rather it's soft plastic worms, lizzards, grubs, or even spinner baits, crank baits, jigs, or spoons. Most of us have some of or all of those lures in our tackle boxes, so when you run out of bait or can't find or get any, pick up the plastics. Become a lure fisherman, it's a lot more fun.

Don't ya just love how you always get an answer like this? I've got boxes full of that stuff Hank, been a lure fisherman since Hector was a pup! Hold those thoughts on plastic....the question was "Have you tried Fishers Choice"?

There are times that artificial baits just don't work as well as a natural bait, live or preserved. My biggest problem is fishing with my grandkds ages 4 and 5. They love to catch fish, but don't have the attention span to fish artificials just yet. I hesitated to buy the Fisher's because of the package size, most of the packages were just to large before the small sized cans were introduced. I'm thinking that come spring, a can of these is worth a try.

That's the same thing I was thinkin' Pegsguy...the kids. I've looked everywhere around here but can't find it anywhere. Guess I'll have to order some online. Think I saw it in Cabelas catalog too.
