Hey guys,
I like fishing off the Jax Beach Pier, I see so many people catching fish. I Have never caught one there, So now i have a new rod and reel, Its a Deep sea Reel with the not open faced or closed and its maybe 7 Foot. I usually use shrimp i was wondering whats a good rig for it?
Dropshot Fishing?
and its 40 Pound Test.
I also see people have like two sets of hooks on there mainline and i would like to learn how to do this.

The two sets of hooks you see is most likely the "Hi-Lo" rig. You tie it by making 2 dropper loops in your leader. Go to you tube a look up tying a bottom rig, Hi-Lo rig and how to tie a dropper loop. |

What kind of rig would you use and because i cant name the pole do you need a picture of it and the reel? Ive seen people catch whiting - String rays - Sharks - flounder. You can catch a lot off that pier i don't really care what i catch i just like fishing lol.. Now that i have some money i can get some hooks and weight ETC. |

As far as your tackle goes...Rod and reel...go with what you have...you said you have a 6 1/2 - 7 ft rod right?? That is fine...you don't need one of those big, long surf rods that are 10 ft long. As for your reel...use what ever you have set up on your rod. You'll be fine...You don't have to get too technical with your gear just yet. As for the cable car rig...If thats what works, go for it. I'd use a fish finder rig. It's a barrel sleeve with a clip the side. Here's how it works: Insert the fish finder rig on to your main line then attach a snap swivel to the end of your main line. Your leader (with hook) is going to be attached to the snap swivel. On the fish finder you will attach your sinker on the side using the clip. Very easy to use and very effective. It's almost the same as a cable car rig...With the F.F rig, it wil hold bottom, while your main line can swim out. Remember to adjust your drag...not too tight. |
