taking care of minnows is alot of work. Keeping them in a little fish bowl will not work. You need a fish tank with good air. Those little guys will take a couple years to grow up. go to a pet store and by a good aquarium with a good aerator. Breeding them is a different story. I would do a search on the internet to see if they can breed in a tank. |

Also, check what the regulations are for selling and keeping baitfish, it might be a legal no-no. You'll probably need some kind of commerical license to sell them, at least I think you do in my state, it would be better to check than to be slapped with a fine. |

Yep, they're right '151. Minnows are hard to raise and there are regulations on selling them. Best bet might be catch a few, fish with them, then catch a few more. Now get those little buggers to the lake and catch us a fish!

| Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, if it wasn't for my super smooth carbon drag, my 30 year old Trilene would bust!

Good idea. I know for me it’s hard to keep the rest of the minnows I did not use the day I went fishing to go fishing the next day! I constantly have to change the water adding AquaSafe to water to remove choline. Choline kills fish. Minnows are touchy. For me I just go to bait shops are getting them. Nevertheless, raising them would be cool! Maybe you could raise crawfish too! Quick tip I learned minnow fishing. NEVER HOOK THEM IN THE BACK!! They die a lot quicker that way. It is better to hook them in the mouth. Fish usually do not respond to a dead minnow. They need that wounded fish action. No fish could resist that! |
